The only thing that started coming to mind for “Sad” were making me, well, sad! People I miss, loved ones who’ve died, disasters and tragedies everywhere around the world. People oppressing other people. Greed overcoming generosity and kindness. Pure evil looking for nothing other than creating discontent and strife.
Then I thought of the ideals a group of folks had – the idea that people could work together to pursue life, liberty, and happiness, without infringing on the happiness of others. What would they say if they saw us now? Would they be pleasantly surprised at how well we’ve come? Or would they stand back and wonder why we’re not working harder to get along and help each person grow?
Hm… I think they’d be a little “sad”… but smile and let us know that we can do so much better… like your broken-hearted father when you’ve disobeyed yet again…

i am loving these..will ne looking for them now. K
I think the America of today would break their hearts. They would say we sacrificed all for them and this what they have become? Every day I see another evidence of hate arising it’s ugly head of distruction. God still loves all but how much longer will he wait before He comes to destroy this world. Love your posts! Keep up the good work what you say is true!
